FIFA-Loving Hackers Strike Xbox Live Accounts

Xbox Live users should keep an eye on their accounts, and any credit card associated with that account, and especially take notice of any strange activity involving FIFA 11 or 12. Several users have complained, through multiple gaming publications, of hackers recovering their accounts to a different machine and using them for purchases associated with the soccer game.

Battlefield 3 Will Require Online Pass, Too

Multiplayer for all EA Sports games have been placed behind Online Pass access for more than a year now, and titles such as Dead Space 2 and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit have employed it recently. As EA is using Battlefield 3 to drive PC gamers to its new Origin service, we should expect them to give the console version the Online Pass treatment.

NYCC 2011 Day Two In Pictures

And lo, the hordes have come. Today’s the first public day of New York City’s annual nerd prom and fandoms of every stripe are showing up in force, even though it’s a work day. Gaze upon these costumes in awe, gentle readers. Special props to the young woman doing New Lara Croft. Way to stand out, lady!

Scream For Asura’s Wrath

Capcom set up a sound booth in the middle of their New York Comic Con booth this weekend not to keep the noise out, but to keep it in.
Conferences goers were asked to step inside and scream as loudly as they could for a chance to win something… besides a weekend-long scratchy throat.

The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer Is All Gameplay

Amazing Spider-Man is being made by Beenox, the studio behind the two most recent Spider-Man games, but it’s been in development by a dedicated team who have been working on it for over a year, according to Gerard Lehinay, the studio’s creative director. Lehiany introduced the game at a Marvel video games panel at today’s Con, saying that the creators wanted to make New York City an integral part of Spider-Man games again. “We brought back the city into Spider-Man games,” he said. “For us it is important to be able to web-swing in the city. So that’s one of the major things that we’ve been working on.”

A news release says:

The table features missions inspired by actual comic events, such as Magneto’s destruction of the Brooklyn Bridge (NEW X-MEN #147) and a pinball version of the Dark Phoenix Saga that uses actual dialogue from classic issues of THE UNCANNY X-MEN. There is even a confrontation with the Juggernaut in which Cyclops, Iceman, Colossus and Psylocke exemplify good teamwork as they attempt to stop the unstoppable.

The Master Of Magnetism Is A Natural Enemy In Marvel Pinball’s Latest Table

Pinball wizards will be tasked with assembling the X-Men, teaching them their powers, and overcoming the threat posed by Magneto — who tears up the floor of the machine, destroys ramps and manipulates the silver ball. (He does so, but subtly, in this trailer). Zen has built beautiful virtual pinball tables that take advantage of video game physics without shattering the game’s structure, so it’s a natural for them to impose magnetism — long the pinballer’s nemesis, real or imagined — on this one.

Akihabara Stabbing Massacre Inspiring New Motion Picture

June 2008 was tragic. Then 25-year-old Tomohiro Kato went on a stabbing rampage in Tokyo’s geek district, leaving seven dead and 10 injured. He was sentenced to death earlier this year. Not exactly the feel-good backdrop for a movie.

Written and directed by prolific filmmaker Ryuichi Hiroki, the movie, dubbed River, follows a young woman who lost her otaku boyfriend in the attack. She slowly rebuilds her life, interacting with Akihabara inhabitants and even working in a maid cafe.

The film’s director has made an array of films on difficult topics, but online in Japan, many are complaining that a movie like this is unnecessary and too soon.

Japanese English Versus Siri

Siri is not only miffed by Scottish English, it also doesn’t follow English spoken with a Japanese accent.
“Work” and “walk” are notoriously difficult for Japanese speakers — largely because the Japanese loan word for “work” is “waaku” (ワーク). Japanese people are used to saying “waaku” for “work”.
The gentlemen who recorded this video has a good accent and more patience than I.

China’s First Game Console Dated And Priced

The iSec, Lenovo’s home game console, was supposed to be out soon. According to Chinese reports, it will get a limited release this December in the Mainland. Previously called the eBox, the iSec has Kinect-style controls and will cost 3000 yuan ($460).
How iSec’s release will factor into China’s ban on game consoles, we shall see.

EA Sports Resurrects NFL Blitz

Midway’s classic game of over-the-top seven-on-seven football returns with online multiplayer and HD graphics this January, when EA Sports releases NFL Blitz, a downloadable game for the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

While the more dedicated football fans were ploughing through primitive Madden titles (or actually going outside to play), those of us that loved football but not enough to play by the rules found solace in Midway’s NFL Blitz, a game where the ridiculously large scores we’d rack up in Madden‘s easy mode made much more sense.

Rumored since late last year, EA’s revival marks the first time the franchise has carried the NFL licence since 2003, as well as the first time it’s been presented in full HD. The new game features a selection of players from all 32 NFL teams playing in 31 different NFL stadiums. Handling commentary this time around will be former NFL Blitz announcer Tim Fitzroy, with actor Brian Haley adding a little more colour.

NFL Blitz will be packed with game modes, from versus and two-on-two online and offline multiplayer matches to the Blitz Gauntlet, a single-player mode in which players take on tiered challenges, battling NFL teams and fantasy bosses to unlock them for all game modes. Online multiplayer will be a strong focus, with players earning Blitz Bucks online that can be traded for power-ups, cheats, and players. Building an entire NFL team unlocks powerful Pro and Ultimate players that promise to be completely ridiculous in the stats department.

“NFL Blitz was one of the great arcade classics of the 90s, and now we’re bringing back everything fans loved at a great price, in high-definition and as a digital download,” says Cam Weber, general manager of American Football for EA Sports. “The new NFL Blitz will preserve the competitive nature of the original game, while delivering to fans the ultimate rivalry experiences online.”

I’ve missed you, you ridiculously unrealistic football basta

Eve Online Developers CCP Laying Off 120 People

Best known for the massive online game Eve Online, Icelandic company CCP has been steadily ascending its profile over the last few years, as they moved from that ambitious sci-fi virtual world to other projects like Dust 514, the in-development, PS3-exclusive shooter that ties into their MMO and new franchise World of Darkness.

But, just as they’re preparing to expand the reach, the company’s announced redundancies that will release 120 workers from their ranks, which represents about 20 per cent of its workforce. In a press release, CCP says that they realised that they’re attempting to do too much and will be shifting to focusing more strictly on the Eve Online universe.

The press release strikes a surprisingly candid tone, and refers to the recent problems Eve users have had with CCP’s management of the game. Development on World of Darkness will continue, but with a much smaller team and people will apparently be moving to bolster the work being done on Dust 514. The release also says that Eve Online expansions and Dust 514 trials will be launching later this year.

Do You Like Mecha Figures? Like Z.O.E. And Gundam?

Sure you do! At the recent All Japan Plamodel Hobby Show held outside Tokyo, a whole bunch of figures were on display. There were the standard bishoujo (“beautiful girl”) statues, along with mecha and robot figures. Let’s focus on those.

The gallery is Gundam heavy, but there are appearances by Zone of the Enders and Armored Core. Gundam heavy is not a bad thing.

Japan loves mecha! I love mecha! Hopefully, you do, too.

Many of the figures are unpainted prototypes. So if you are wondering why they are unpainted, it’s because they are unpainted prototypes.

Angry Birds for PC

Finally, those birds that everybody likes has arrived on PC. After iPhone, iPad, Android and other mobile versions, also iPhone cases and toys, Angry Birds has finally arrived on the PC thanks to the Intel App Up store. It’ll work fine and dandy on laptops and netbooks and will cost you only $4.99 to download. Nice price for this lovely game.

Angry Birds is a global phenomenon in mobile gaming and the top grossing iPhone app of 2010. So if you’re not a smart-phone wielding hipster, you no longer have an excuse not to be part of this franchise.

Overall it’s pretty much an identical game play experience to the iPhone app, with some minor differences. It’s snappy, gorgeous, and it sounds amazing. On the netbook version you use a mouse or trackpad instead of touch. There is an open hand icon when the mouse is in hover state, and a closed hand icon when you are clicking or dragging. This visible clue when pulling the slingshot is a nice aid. It allows you to fine tune shots more than just observing the angle of the slingshot band.

Angry Birds for PC

Larger screen means more visibility in the game. On many levels you can see the target that can’t be seen on the iPhone. The previous shot trail is more easily seen, allowing fine tuning of your next shot. Overall the animations and physics seem to have more fluidity.

In terms of features, options, menu etc it’s pretty close to the original. On the netbook the replay level icon has been added to the game space. So you don’t need to pause first then replay. If you start off with bad shot, just click the replay icon, then you can start over. Saving a click is nice. There is a Menu button in the Pause menu that gets you back to the Start screen. There are some things not in play on the netbook version. The leader board and achievements are not available in the main menu. The Golden Eggs are there.

Angry Birds strikes an interesting balance of repetitive, simple tasks and challenging game play working for the many scenarios. So, if you liked this game on your iPhone or Android phone, you’ll sure like it on your big PC screen. If you are new player, don’t hesitate and join the fun now.

You must know and recognize the game from the Rovio, Angry Birds.

This game consists of seven birds with super abilities are different. By using slingshots, you can control the jump and the height of ill-tempered birds to tear down the building where the collection of green pork fat is shelter.

Where is a funny collection of birds swelled, turned into a grumpy group of birds which destroy the kingdom of lustful pigs these cunning thieves.

Angry Birds now not only for the iPhone, Android OS, PS3 and PSP. even Angry Birds has been available in Ovi Store for Nokia. And now Angry Birds have been available for Windows XP and Windows 7

Free Angry Birds for PC

Plenty of dodgy website owners want to rip off Google and push traffic towards their sites on the bogus promise of the free version of Angry Birds for PC. This is only a scam but in fact there exists a download free Angry Birds for PC nevertheless, you will need to move quickly to take advantage of that offer

Finland games producer Rovio Mobile has produced their very 1st version of Angry Birds Game for the Apple iPhone. This particular game was immediately caught by the iPhonesters, and Rovio understood that they will become successful. That has been fine. However, Rovio needed to get going by recoding Angry Birds Games for several programs, which become easier for small companies to get done.

Several weeks went by and finally, the Nokia and Android users could get themselves the Angry Birds Game. After that, the RovioMobile switched their attentions to the huge users of the PSP or the Play Station Portable and the PS3. That has been an additional huge porting project for Rovio operations.

During that time, the PC users have been reading and hearing rumors regarding Angry Birds for PC. Ultimately, in January, Angry Birds for PC was released, and downloading is not for free. However, not everybody is willing to pay for $5 for just a game, even if they will enjoy playing with it. These days, several users have grown to be familiar of getting some thing for free, so there are many who are on the lookout for a totally free Angry Birds for PC download. It can be downloaded via Windows 7 and Windows XP and Vista, or Mac support. But downloading can only be downloaded if you have an internet connection for the process to activate successfully.

Angry Birds pc is one of the well-known games that have taken the popularity with over 200 million downloads. The availability of this game is taking place in almost all of the popular platforms. In addition to playing the game online in the browser you can now download it on your laptop and take it wherever you may go to enjoy the amazing games, enabling you to play whenever, wherever you go. Take it to your workplace or even in the park, while resting and basting under the sun. Probably launching the Angry Birds for PC the wisest and the best move the game maker ever made.  This availability made for the millions of platform owners, even made the popularity of Angry Birds known to more video-gaming enthusiasts more than over.

    - Angry Birds PC Updated

The PC version was updated last week which we talked about in this post. This update will finally include all episodes of Ham ‘Em High and the two chapters of Mine and Dine. I’m sure this is welcome news for all the PC players who have been feeling left out. It shouldn’t have taken this long to get all the episodes out but that’s in the past now so lets just get to playing. Since all the chapters are available you also have access to all of the golden eggs. You can finally complete your collection!

As a side note because I didn’t want to do an entire post about the subject, have you all seen the Angry Birds bra? It’s available over on etsy  you should go check it out. I personally don’t know anyone who would wear it but i’m sure there is someone out there  who would. I don’t recommend buying this for you girlfriend or wife unless she really loves angry birds.

Greatest Warhawk Moments

With rumors of Santa Monicas next project on the rise, Starhawk, the supposed successor of one of the still most played online multi player shooters for the PS3; Warhawk, many gamers are recalling some of their most fondest memories of playing. Some may be insane kill streaks, ridiculous laser strike kills, and down right absurd vehicular man slaughters, but one things for sure; there was never a dull moment.

My greatest most satisfying moment in Warhawk happened when I first picked up my PS3 and played the game, I had a buddy play online via split screen with me. He was the hard core 360 fan boy type. So we are about 30 seconds into the map on Archipelago, he's following me to a jeep when he said "dude this game sucks, where is everyone?" I told him "The maps are big and it just started, give it sec." When all of a sudden -- "zzzhhhooo", I sniper domes me from the supply room at the top of the map, and he's like "oh shit!" In which case he turns around to run away and gets tow missiled to smithereens, in which he yells, "wtf are you serious, that just happened?!" He owns a PS3 now and still plays Warhawk.

Another was a blunder, when I laser struck a warhawk. I was targeting a drop ship with the designator when as soon as it charged, the drop ship moved and an enemy warhawk zoomed right into it. I then proceeded to almost die of laughter on the floor in front of my couch.

Sequels Rock

The year of 2010 is coming to an end. Overall, it's been a fine year for gaming, I would say. Now, with the end of the year approaching, game developers everywhere are scrambling to notify their potential customers of what's on the horizon. Generally, the lion's share of these notifications tend to be announcements of Big Name Sequels, and the round of such announcements for 2011 onwards is a sizeable one. Concordantly, it is the time of year when certain publications and writers inevitably start moaning about the apparent lack of innovation in the game industry. "Ugh, whatever happened to innovation? Is originality dead?", and similar phrases abound, delivered in the most snooty voice they can muster in print.

These hit-bait articles are a dime a dozen, and thrive on the common phenomenon of people perceiving negative criticism as being inherently more valid than positive criticism (Essentially thinking "this guy says something I like is bad. Could he have better tastes than me? I must investigate!"), a trick which we fall for time and again. Now, far be it from me to describe the writers who employ this technique as a bunch of turtleneck-wearing, pipe-smoking ivory-tower dwellers, but... well, I guess I just did. But I digress;

I won't go into the whole spiel about how there's a thriving independent game development scene, or that downloadable services such as Steam, XBL, and the Playstation Store have made smaller games, devteams and risky projects viable again, after years of being pummeled in stores by big developers, and being unable to fight for shelf space among the larger titles. I won't go into the whole argument of why it's difficult to get worked up about original titles, as opposed to getting worked up about sequels, either. Those are op-eds for another day. Today, I want to talk about sequels. Specifically, why sequels are great.

Unlike their next of kin, movies, video games are an iterative form of entertainment. Certainly no film director is rushing off to make 'Lawrence of Arabia 2: Arabian Knights', just so they can shoot the desert in Super-IMAX 3D. And no-one would want them to, anyway. But video games are a different story. Being that they rely so heavily upon technological improvement, in terms of both software and hardware, as well as the input of players in order to be games, it is not surprising that they have a tendency to improve over time, as their creators refine their technique in conjunction with the rise in technology that gradually becomes available to them.

The following is a list of sequels that were just as good if not flat out better than the game that preceded them. I'll highlight a few of them, though there's not enough time or space to comment on each and every one. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list, by any means. Just a little reminder that sequels, when done right, are awesome.

- Silent Hill 2 -

The first game may have been one of the scariest experiences of all time, but the laconic and morose Silent Hill 2 furthered the horror genre's descent into uncharted depths of psychological terror.

- Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast -

You could feel this game going from first to fifth gear when you picked up Kyle's lightsaber a few levels into the game. The previous games and levels might have contained enough blasters to arm you and your neighbor's teeth, but carving your way through an entire army of stormtroopers, sand people, rancors, sith, cyborgs and whatever else the developers cared to throw at you using only a lightsaber and force powers was pure, unbridled Jedi power-trip joy.

(Also, "g_saberrealisticcombat 1", anyone?)

- Dune II -

It's not often that a sequel spawns a whole new genre, but Westwood's Dune II both popularized and codified the modern RTS. Not bad for a follow-up act. Which leads us to the next entry..

- Command & Conquer: Red Alert -

Apparently, it turns out that taking Hitler out of the equation wasn't such a good idea, as the Allies now found themselves under siege by those wacky Commies. Fortunately for us, this translated into exciting tactical encounters, great music and zapping guard dogs with giant Tesla coils. Classic.

- DooM 2 -

DooM 2 was essentially more of the same. More monsters, more levels and one new gun. But it was it was effing DooM, and that was a good enough excuse to dive into the fray again, double-barreled shotgun in hand. Eat leaden death, demon-spawn. (Also, yes, that is the correct way to spell DooM).

- Super Mario Bros. 3. -

With Doki Doki Panic being America and Europe's substitute, and the "Lost Levels" of Japan essentially being a harder Super Mario Bros. 1, SMB arguably never received a proper sequel until Super Mario Bros. 3 came around. And it was glorious.

- Rebelstar -

The sequel to Julian Gollop's Rebelstar Raiders, back on the Spectrum. An excellent turn-based strategy game in its own right, but would also go on to sire Laser Squad, and perhaps best known out of Gollop's titles, a little game called UFO: Enemy Unknown (a.k.a. X-com).

- Street Fighter 2 -

Does anyone even remember the first one?

(Was there even a first one?)

- Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake -

The follow-up to the groundbreaking Metal Gear on the MSX was leaps and bounds better than the game that inspired it. Much improved gameplay, larger areas to explore, a radar and map feature, lots of weapons and spy gadgets to play with, and even a decent story. The series would lay dormant until revived by Konami in the Playstation era, where its sequel (!), Metal Gear Solid arrived to further tactical espionage action and cinematic direction in gaming.

And of course, this list wouldn't be complete without some current-generation examples:

- Super Scribblenauts -

Scribblenauts is the sort of idea that gets shot down early on during brainstorming sessions for games, on the grounds of being too difficult to implement. It is fortuitous for us, then, that 5th Cell had the courage to press on with their bold idea of letting players solve puzzles through the use of objects summoned by typing in just about anything they could think of. When Scribblenauts came out in late 2009, it was deemed flawed, but ambitious. Several complaints were lodged against its fiddly control scheme, in particular. Its sequel, Super Scribblenauts removed many of the irritations from the first one, offered players regular d-pad controls, added the ability to appent adjectives to your nouns, and bolstered the game's already robust vocabulary with more than 10,000 new words. With the sequel, 5th Cell had finally delivered the game they had wanted to make in the first place.

Also, name me one other game where you can summon a giant, hairy rainbow-coloured radioactive invincible friendly fire-breathing robot Cthulhu, and then ride it to victory.

- Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty -

Sometimes we gamers have to wait for ages for a sequel to come out. And sometimes the wait is totally worth it, as demonstrated by Blizzard's belated but smashing follow-up to their 1998 RTS classic.

- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves -

Admittedly, I haven't played this title yet, but I hear it's alright, you know. It's not TOO awful or anything.

- Mass Effect 2 -

Bioware made a vast improvement over their already-classic original title, by stripping Mass Effect 2 of the elements that so often bog down RPG titles and relegate them to the status of forgettable dungeon crawlers, i.e. cumbersome inventory management, sifting through vendor trash and plodding through forgettable side-quests, replacing them with a greater emphasis on story and character, as well as gameplay that isn't merely "sort of good", but actually really bloody good.

- Rock Band 3 -

If Rock Band 2 was a small step forward for the rhythm game genre, then Rock Band 3 was a massive leap, proving that sequels need not be merely iterative. Two new instruments (keyboards and real guitar), Pro Mode, which further blurs the boundaries between virtual escapism and the advancement of real-life skill, as well as a slew of improvements to the UI and overall game design contribute to Rock Band 3 being more than just another sequel. It also rocks in the literal sense, not just the figurative one.

More sequels that rock:

Resident Evil 2, Monkey Island 2, Mega Man 2, Baldur's Gate 2, Zone of the Enders 2, Civilization 2, Dark Cloud 2, Burnout 2: Point of Impact, Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly, Double Dragon 2, Tekken 2, Mortal Kombat 2, Sonic 2, Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within, Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals, Streets of Rage 2, TMNT2: The Arcade Game, Shenmue 2, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Devil May Cry 3, Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, Soul Calibur 2, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Jak & Daxter 2, Parasite Eve 2, Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness, Shinobi 3, Gran Turismo 2, Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror, Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix, Lost Vikings 2, Marathon 2: Durandal, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, Little Big Adventure 2, Golden Axe 2, Rayman 2, Fallout 2, Micro Machines 2: Turbo Tournament, Phantasy Star 2, Road Rash 2, Shining Force 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins, Twisted Metal 2, System Shock 2, Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne..

Chinese Couple Sells All Three Kids to Play Online Games

A young Chinese couple has sold all three of their children in exchange for money to play online Nick jr games at Internet cafes, reports a southern Chinese newspaper.

According to Sanxiang City News, the couple met in an Internet cafe back in 2007 and bonded over their obsession with online video games.  A year later, the parents — who are both under 21 — welcomed their first child, a son.  Days after his birth, they left him home alone while they went to play online agame at an Internet cafe 30 km away.

In 2009, Li Lin and Li Juan welcomed their second child, a baby girl, and came up with the idea to sell her for money to fund their online game obsession.  They did so, receiving RMB 3,000 (less than $500), which they spent entirely shortly after.  The couple then proceeded to sell their first child and got 10 times as much for him — RMB 30,000, or about $4600.

Upon having their third child — another boy — the parents followed in their previous footsteps and also got RMB 30,000 for him.

They were finally turned into authorities when Li Lin’s mother found out what her son and his girlfriend had done.

When asked if they missed their children, the parents answered, “We don’t want to raise them, we just want to sell them for some money.”

Sanxiang City Newsreports the couple didn’t know they were breaking the law.

Official Pokemon Game Coming To Smartphones

The Pokemon Company is set to bring an official Pokemon Online game to smartphone devices, marking the first time that an official Nintendo-copyrighted app will be available on the iOS and Android.

Called Pokemon Iie Tap (rougly Pokemon: Say Tap?), the app appears to be a rhythm game where players “tap on Pokemon indigo trading cards to the beat of a song from the anime,” according to a translation by consumer video game site GamesRadar.

According to the game’s official announcement, it will be available for most iOS devices, as well as Android devices running version 2.1 of the platform.

Though this is the first iOS or Android application to carry an official Nintendo copyright, it is not the first mobile app of any kind: a Pokemon mobile phone game called Pokemate was released in Japan in 2006.

Though it is a rarity, Nintendo does have a history of releasing official games on platforms that are not its own, including a promotional Flash game to promote its Tingle character.

A release outside of Japan has not been announced.

Grab Your Weapons Sony Snipers. It's Time For War

As you already know, Sony Computer Entertainment has underwent massive reconstruction to the once impenetrable PlayStation® Network. This code red alert has left over 70 million gamers across the world from indulging in gaming nirvana.

There are many of you who feel the need to direct your anger towards Sony Computer Entertainment and seek compensation, apologies and the like. Dark Sniper is here to remind all of you that the root of the blame should be directed towards the hackers who created this problem.

Before placing blame on the company who's working tirelessly to rectify the problem, please take a second to look at the facts. George Hotz(Geohot) revealed the root keys that gives anyone in the general public access to the PlayStation®3 Home Entertainment Terminal. Thus making him the catalyst for the recent attacks. Sony Computer Entertainment rightfully did their due diligence and pursued legal action against Geohot in order to ensure the security of the 70 million PSN subscribers across the globe.

After the legal battle was settled, George Hotz publicly declared his fight against Sony would still continue by encouraging all hackers across the nation to boycott any products that are endorsed by Sony Computer Entertainment. This began the birth of "Anonymous". A group of hackers whose sole intent is to ruin SCE in any shape, form or fashion.

Instantly, Anonymous declared war against Sony. Stating that their biggest attack would strike Sony in ways never thought imaginable. Days later, PlayStation® Network is suspended due to fraudulent activities from outsiders.

We are at a civil war amongst the World Wide Web. Against those who claim to fight for their "freedom" while the gamer's freedom has been stripped away. It goes without Dark Sniper saying that Anonymous must be eliminated at all costs and by any means necessary, even if it means by death or dishonor.

Dark Sniper has no issues with those who would like to freely explore the sheer technological prowess of PlayStation®3. What he does have a problem with is those who devote their lives to ruining the honest consumer who wants nothing more than to enjoy the PlayStation Nation amongst likeminded gamers.

Enough is enough, we must take a stand. Once the "Anonymous" identities are revealed, we shall bring hellfire and brimstone to their lives and beat them down to a bloody pulp. These inconsiderate dolts will bow before the mercy of Sony and we will rightfully take back what's ours.

Dark Sniper will be out in the frontline doing his job and will crack as many heads as possible. He calls upon his Sony Snipers as we engage war against the hackers who have tried to ruin our daily lives.

GTA Opinion - So guys, as consumers, what do YOU want from GTA5?

Ever since GTA4, the next chapter in the Grand Theft Auto series has been very highly anticipated. Now the rumors are intensifying and are littering message boards and forums, discussing when it'll be released and announced, where it'll be set, and how much destruction can i cause in it. I would like the next GTA to have the graphics of GTA4, the craziness of San Andreas and the same quality storyline of Vice City. In other words, the ultimate GTA.

The lack of planes and other wacky items in GTA4 (Jetpack, Hyraulics on cars etc) will make the next GTA all the more sweeter. We are used to a realistic, and by GTA's standards, dull open world game with GTA4, but its realism made it more relatable to you and me, it felt much more like a living, breathing world then San Andreas any other GTA for that matter. It looked like NYC, looking over the sea in GTA4 before you unlock the second island made me get goosebumps. The concrete jungle, the magic lights of NYC right in front of you. If you felt the same way then Rockstar have acheived what they wanted to from GTA4, make a game that will change the way you feel about GTA. The lack of crazy items in Liberty City means that when we get them back in the next GTA, it feel all the more sweeter, finally donning the cockpit of a plane in glorious HD, looking below at the world before parachuting down there and destroying it will feel like a dream come true, making it truely, the ultimate GTA.

So tell me guys, what do YOU want from Rockstar in the next GTA?

To have to ability to go in every building?
To be able to get married?
To get to travel to other countries?

Tell us in the comment section below :)

On behalf of GamingBuzz,
Jso003.

(ps. if anyone is unsure of why planes arn't in GTA, Rockstar removed them as it would be disrespectful for people to have fun reenacting 9/11 on the Empire State building etc)

My brand new PC!

Hello there! Before I get into the specs of my new computer (I actually don't have it yet, it is sitting in a cart on Newegg.com), I just wanna say that I have never been a PC gamer in all the 20 or so years I have been playing games. Yes I always knew of the advantages they have had over consoles, but I always loved the simplicity of a console, I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

However, a certain little game called Crysis was released about 4 years ago, and that forever changed my thoughts about never getting a gaming rig. Unfortunately back then I didn't have the means to get one. Now, another little game shall be releasing soon called Battlefield 3. We all know the story of things being removed on the consoles like 24 players, reduced map size, and of course it will be less pretty. When I heard this news, I just couldn't stand it. This game MUST be played the way the developers want it to be played.

So I basically did a (F#@K THIS $H!7) sort of thing, and decided to find myself some great parts for a computer. Now I was left with one major problem, I didn't know a damn thing about this stuff. I know what a graphics card is, but not so much how one works. I know what a RAM stick is, but also not so much how important they are, something to do with speed I think? (please don't kill me!! I'm new at this!!) That's pretty much how it goes for the rest of the vital components in a computer, I just don't know a whole lot basically.

So because of this, I immediately thought of a user here on N4G by the name of ATi_Elite. I'm sure he is not the only PC savvy gamer here, he is just the one I happened to remember for some reason. I began speaking with him about all of this, and now I know a fairly good amount of what is really inside a computer, and what some of the parts do thanks to his vast knowledge. He helped me out very much in choosing the correct parts for my computer, so all credit goes to him. Here is the computer we have finally came to agree on, and I thank him a lot for all of his help. Hopefully he gets the chance to read this!

3dtv has fixed my eyes

When I was a kid I went to Alton Towers and saw a polarised 3d video- I found it amazing, intense and magical so when Avatar came out years later I was hyped.

However when I saw Avatar, although impressed with the film in general, the effects wents straight over my head. I discovered I was 'stereo-blind' and could not perceive 3d at all.

This was pretty gutting as I'd had such a great experience with it as a kid and had heard 3dtv was around the corner. I played with lots of anagyph 3d on youtube with no success to be certain.

I'm very long-sighted(+4/+6) have Astigmatism (oval-shaped eyeballs) and Amblyopia (lazy-eye)- so it was perhaps to be expected. When I went to my eye doctor and asked about it they laughed and said it would be pretty much impossible for me to percieve 3d. I persisted.

I practiced trying not ignoring my lazy eye and went from never using it to being able to summon double vision at any time but not quite line them up right. Tried some 3dtvs in a shop still no joy.

Anyway recently after some mild success with Anaglyph I decided to buy a 3dtv to practice watching 3d on as it wasn't much extra to get a tv with 3d than one without I went for a Samsung 40" D6100 for £595.

After just a weekend with this tv watching a couple of 3d blurays and healthy amount of Wipeout 3dHD on Ps3 and Batman in 3d on PC It is working incredibly well for me- whats more real life looks a LOT more 3d to me.

The point of this blog is just to let people know who have eyes like mine, who would like to see 3d effects that I strongly feel it is posslbe with no more than the four P's I use to get better at guitar- Practice, Patience, Perseverience and more Practice.

Don't give up- It is worth it, Batman Arkham Asylmn looks unbelieveably good in 3d!

Heres a decent Anaglyph (red/cyan glasses) 3d to test yourself with.

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

If you have a 3dtv use this one click the 3d button on the player, choose 'other options' then 'side to side' then press the 3d button on your tv remote and choose 'side to side'

Farm Cash Goes Global: Zynga Game Cards invade Europe, Turkey

Zynga Game Cards
It's not just language that's been a barrier to Zynga's global domination (which as of late it seems to have mastered). International digital farmers need a way to pay, too. This is exactly why the company has announced partnerships with distributors in Europe and Turkey to dole out Zynga Game Cards to the masses, VentureBeat reports.

Euronet Worldwide's epay division will distribute the game cards across 18 European countries. More specifically, European fans looking for an in-game boost can find the cards in 276,000 retail spots and 588,000 kiosks spanning the U.K., France, Spain, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Greece, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Croatia, according to VentureBeat. Those who buy a Zynga Game Card from these locations will also score a free in-game gift.

In Turkey, mobile payment provider Mikro Ödeme will offer the prepaid cards for smaller increments of Turkish Lira. However, players can also pay through their mobile phones through services TurkCell and Turk Telekom. This is far from the first place Zynga has expanded its game cards. Most recently, Zynga Game Cards entered the Middle East and North Africa through Gate2Play, touched India through MOL and into Latin America through Mentez.

The FarmVille creator's quest to be the number one games company in the world takes more than just localization through language support, but allowing international players to pay up, too. According to VentureBeat, Zynga already has 12 games in 50 countries--only 146 countries to go.

Where do you think Zynga will expand to next both in games and payment platforms? Are you an international Zynga game fan without the option to buy things in-game yet? Share with us in the comments. Add Comment

A Nintendo 3DS revamp is in the works with ... less 3D? [Rumor]

First, Nintendo cuts the price of its new handheld nearly in half. Now, the company is reportedly looking to cut the thing that makes its 3DS unique ... the 3D. French gaming news website 01Net reports, citing insider sources, that the Big N is working on an overhaul to the 3DS that "radically tones down" the system's 3D capabilities, according to Eurogamer. Like all reports citing anonymous sources, this news deserves a certain amount of skepticism, though Eurogamer points out 01Net's track record.

According to Eurogamer, 01Net broke the news of Nintendo's Wii U and Sony's PS Vita hardware specifications before either console was even announced. The French website also reports that the company is regretful that it never added a second analog joystick to the 3DS, and that it will soon release a detachable one for about $10. Furthermore, Nintendo has reportedly asked a number of developers to work on games to make use of the upcoming peripheral.

The 01Net report goes on to say that this new version of the 3DS will release sometime in 2012, and could dramatically rebrand the handheld console entirely. According to the report, the recent $80 price cut made by Nintendo was not only in response to poor sales, but to clear stock of the original 3DS to make way for this new model.

However, we're not 100 percent sure 3D is what held the Nintendo 3DS back from being the absolute hit its predecessor was. For one, the system launched with little support from Nintendo staples like Mario and Link much less other games. Second, Nintendo has yet to introduce an online gaming network as robust as those you'll find even in modern day smartphones.

The price drop might turn out to be a brilliant move for Nintendo moving forward, but a complete rebranding sounds too rash of a decision for a company like Nintendo. We've contacted Nintendo for comment.

Do you believe that Nintendo could be working to rebrand the 3DS entirely? Do you think this would be a smart move for the company to make? Sound off in the comments. Add Comment

So, keep visiting your friends if you want to change the overall palette of your Sim's home.

Enrique Iglesias says, 'I Like How It Feels' in CityVille, visits next week

Man, why can't an act like Metallica crash CityVille? Oh, excuse my inner metal head, but you ladies out there are gonna' love this one: Zynga has announced that Grammy-winning pop star Enrique Iglesias is coming to its top Facebook game. Starting next week on Oct. 4, players will get the chance to help Mr. Iglesias kick off his recently-launched Euphoria Tour in-game.

Once Enrique lands in CityVille--and if you're over Level 6--you will be graced by his digitized presence in the game. But there' far more to this promotion than just clicking on the guy to hear witty sayings: Players will be able to collect various items fond to Enrique to score a thematic speed boat and Miami high-rise to place in their cities. The event will run through Oct. 10, and there is a grand finale in store for Enrique fans.
Enrique Iglesias in CityVille
Toward the end of the event, you will have the chance to build Enrique his very own Euphoria Arena in-game. Once you do, the guy will be so nice as to show you a sneak preview of his brand new music video, "I Like How It Feels" (featuring Pitbull and The WAVs). Of course, this is far from the first time a Zynga game has enjoyed celebrity exposure.

Just recently, the company announced that Indiana Jones will swoop into Adventure World through its work with Lucasfilm, and who can forget when Lady Gaga ran FarmVille for a few weeks earlier this spring? Even before that, both Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg had their fun with Mafia Wars. Are you sensing a trend yet? Good, because we doubt this is the last time a celeb will hit Zynga with a touch of fame. In fact, if you ask Facebook's major game creators, branded games are on the up and up.

Are you psyched to see that Enrique will hit up CityVille on his Euphoria Tour? Which celebrity or artist do you hope makes their way into a Zynga game next? Sound off in the comments. Add Comment.

Vostu goes for Goooaaal with GolMania on Facebook, Orkut [Video]

And boy, does it look intense. Vostu--you know, the Brazilian social game maker trading legal blows with Zynga--has released what is likely its most ambitious social game yet with GolMania. Available now on Facebook and Orkut in English, Portuguese and Spanish, this social soccer game touts real-time, directly-controlled soccer matches between friends in a cute art style.

And, according to a Vostu representative, "real-time" means live, arcade-style gameplay between two friends over Facebook or Orkut, Google's wildly popular social network in South America. The game pits players against one another on the field, but has friends cooperate off of the green to build up each other's stadiums and to gain energy and money for more matches.

As player progress in GolMania by mastering its keyboard controls and dominating opponents live, they will unlock special maneuvers. You will also be able to organize private tournaments between friends and participate in global cups amongst the game's top players--you can even play soccer in low gravity on the moon. And Vostu already has even bigger plans for its now flagship social soccer game.

Vostu's Mystery Fantasy Game on Facebook
"GolMania brings Vostu's fun social experience to a casual sports game," Vostu Chief Scientist Mario Schlosser said in a release. "We look forward to our millions of users getting to play GolMania and like with all of our games, we will then quickly react to their feedback and our deep analytics about player behavior to unveil new features that take into account how users make the game their own."

The game was developed Vostu's recent acquisition MP Studio, and employs the publisher's Vostu Game Network, meaning friends can play with one another in real time across social networks. Vostu also teased to us an unnamed social game (found in the gallery above) with a deep, cartoonish fantasy setting that's set to launch this fall as well. Gree's OpenFeint hires ex-Glu Mobile exec, more social games coming?

The mobile social game wars are heating up, as OpenFeint just took on former Glu Mobile executive Sarah Thompson (pictured) as its director of developer relations, SocialTimes reports. In other words, OpenFeint, owned by Japanese mobile social gaming powerhouse Gree, hired Thomson to strategically acquire build relationships with independent developers.

Namely, SocialTimes's Azam Khan guesses those developers will be primarily social and mobile social game creators, given Thomson's past exploits in the industry with Glu Mobile and IUGO Entertainment before that. And frankly, we couldn't agree more. Considering OpenFeint is a social network for mobile games at heart, and Gree's existing status, it simply makes sense.

"OpenFeint is going through an exciting phase of growth right now and Sarah is exactly the kind of person we need to keep up the momentum," OpenFeint SVP Marketing and Developer Relations Eros Resmini said in a release. "Sarah's deep history in mobile gaming paired with her connections to the developer community made her a great fit for OpenFeint."

We can't help but recall what just went down between OpenFeint and Gree: The former's co-founder and CEO Jason Citron resigned, and Gree CFO Naoki Aoyagi took his place. (Though, VentureBeat reckons the move was less ... cut-and-dry.) But back to Gree and OpenFeint's future plans, the simple fact is mobile social games are growing at an exponential rate on iOS and Android devices.

"I've always admired OpenFeint for its constant innovation in the mobile gaming space," Thomson said in a release. "As the company continues to change with the market, I'm excited to help OpenFeint continue growing." And we think we have an idea of just where Thomson would like to go. It starts with an "S" and--oh, forget it. You get the point already.

Do you think this puts OpenFeint in a better place to compete with opponents like DeNA and Zynga in mobile games? Don't you wish you could have rockin' tattoos and a big time exec gig? Sound off in the comments. 3 Comments

Very sneaky, Zynga: Mafia Wars Shakedown revealed for iOS devices

Jeez, these guys are just terrible at keeping secrets, huh? (Alright, so this one looks like it was intentional, but nobody told us!) Zynga has announced yet another game, Mafia Wars Shakedown for iOS devices. However, the company went with a more low key approach for this announcement, which is far from its style. Exhibit A: Mafia Wars 2.

News of the game appeared when it replaced the Facebook page for Mafia Wars: Atlantic City, which was shuttered earlier this month in preparation for a "a much more exciting destination," the Mafia Wars Blog reads. What that implies to us is that Atlantic City may have been a failed experiment in HTML5 game creation, hence Shakedown. No other information about the game has been revealed other than it will first release for iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad.

Well, that and these tiny pieces of artwork. It's unknown whether this new iPhone game will come within a dedicated app like FarmVille and CityVille Hometown for iOS or through HTML5 like its predecessor. Frankly, HTML5--a web-based coding language capable of game development across multiple platforms simultaneously--is capable of more than Atlantic City.
Mafia Wars Shakedown Banner
Shakedown has all but replaced the web presence for Atlantic City (even the Twitter account has been taken over). My guess is that this new game will be a native iOS app like previous Zynga Mobile games, especially considering this news comes just as Zynga Mobile's David Ko told The Guardian he thinks HTML5 is still too early. We've reached out to Zynga for comment.

What are your guesses about this brand new Mafia Wars game for iOS devices? Are you bummed at all that Atlantic City has been closed down? Sound off in the comments. 1 Comment

Glitch, the weirdest Facebook-connected MMO yet, goes live today

Glitch on Facebook
(Editors Note: Glitch is not a Facebook game, but a Facebook-connected social MMO that exists in its own space on Glitch.com. Changes were made in this article to reflect this correction.)

And by weird we mean, "Just what the heck do I do in this game?" weird. When we first heard that Flickr co-creator Stewart Butterfield was working on a new breed of social game called Glitch earlier this year, we were excited to see what was in store. Starting today at 1 p.m. eastern, you can experience the goofy first release from Butterfield's Canada-based Tiny Speck.

Glitch, announced way back in November of last year, is Butterfield's attempt at putting the tools for expression in the players' hands. "Our vision for Glitch is to bring a new level of creativity, beauty and social engagement to players who expect more from their online social gaming experience – an experience that has value beyond traditional forms of entertainment," Butterfield told Kotaku. "Glitch is an experiment in culture building. We provide raw materials and a stimulating environment, but it's the players who bring the infinite world alive, shaping it with their imagination."

Based on an early look at the game co-created by Butterfield and Keita Takahashi--the man behind the equally- strange Katamari Damacy series of games--I can confidently say that the game will fill your daily quota of quirkiness. For instance, I recall during my time with an early build of the game entering a building you would normally find in Washington. Inside, I was to apply for an arbitrary license, and was told by an in-game character to sit and wait for my turn.

Growing confused and impatient from waiting for the green-faced clerk to return from behind the desk to call my name, I left the building. When I returned, I was forced to restart the process. So, I reapplied for the license, and literally waited for 10 minutes for the garish desk clerk to return with my new card for whatever purpose. That's when it hit me: Through Glitch, Butterfield was making a statement on the hilarity of bureaucracy. And you know what? I literally laughed out loud in front of my laptop.

However, what's worrying is that the average FarmVille fan isn't concerned with lofty if humorous statements or open-ended gameplay with nearly infinite methods of expression. They just want to feel accomplished within five minutes and get back to work from their lunch break. Since my look at the game, however, Tiny Speck has made major changes to Glitch to appeal to that crowd, Kotaku reports. That said, why not give Glitch a try--it might be the first social game to make you laugh out loud.

Raptr report: Gamers play Zynga's 'Ville games almost as much as Halo

Wait a second, that's not possible. Zynga games are for casual players, aren't they? Well, maybe not as much as previously though. A report issued by Raptr, the social network for gamers, reveals that the 265 million fans of games like CityVille and FarmVille are playing those games almost as much as Halo players. More importantly, Raptr users are playing said games more than "core" game franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed and Gears of War combined.

Raptr's report breaks down the top game franchises on the social network by time spent playing, as the service tracks whenever users enter a game and for how long they play. Zynga's stable of games tails top hardcore franchises like Call of Duty's massive 43 percent time share and Halo's 14 percent with 13 percent. The remaining 12 percent is reserved for other hardcore games.

According to the report, big time hardcore games like CoD and WoW are played for longer sessions at a time, but Zynga Facebook games such as Empires & Allies or Pioneer Trail are played more frequently. In fact, Raptr goes on to say that about 12 to 20 percent of CityVille players are also deep into games like StarCraft 2 and Call of Duty Black Ops. And the percentage of Xbox 360 owners that have played a Zynga game increased by 50 percent to a total of 30 percent, the report claims.
Top Franchises by Share Time Spent
The data goes on to show that Zynga controls 60 percent of the market in social games, at least judging from Raptr's 10 million users. And before The Sims Social came along, the massive company's top games racked up three times as many hours as the rest of the top 10 Facebook games combined. Not to mention that Zynga fans are loyal: 90 percent of FrontierVille, Treasure Isle, CityVille, and Empires & Allies players were pulled from existing Zynga games.

While it almost goes without saying, Zynga is still killing it. More importantly for the company, however, is that reports like this will help instill confidence in its upcoming $1 billion initial public offering. With recent news that the company's profits plummeted 90 percent--and that The Sims Social has gobbled up most of its top games--made those prospects shaky.

Game of the Day: Impale

impale game of the dayNo one likes zombies. They're scary, they're smelly, they eat our brains, they congest our highways, and are generally a nuisance to have around. Has one of your socks ever gone mysteriously missing in the wash? Chances are a zombie took it.

Today's Game of the Day, Impale, understands your zombie-hatred. That's why the object of the game is to hurl zombies from a catapult, impaling them on spikes, hooks, saws, and much much more. On each map there are a number of hazards with red lights on them, impaling a zombie on that object will turn off the red light. If you turn off all the red lights, you'll progress to the next level!

Though it may sound easy, Impale quickly ramps up the difficulty in it's 50 regular and 20 bonus levels. It'll take accuracy, wit, and a little luck to successfully impale all the zombies.

impale game of the day     impale game of the day
Pro Tips:

    * To unlock the bonus levels you'll need to get a score of 1,000 on the first 50 levels. To do that, you're going to need to limit the amount of zombies you launch. The fewer zombies it takes you to complete a level, the higher your score.
    * Remember to aim carefully. The further your cursor is from the catapult when you click, the farther and faster your zombie will travel. Also, though they are above death, zombies aren't above gravity. When you launch a zombie, it will travel in an arc. Aim slightly above what your trying to hit for best results.
    * If you aren't looking to unlock the bonus levels or get a high score, and just want to have fun, may I suggest my preferred technique: the zombie catapult machine gun. Simply rapid-fire zombies at whatever you want for maximum effectiveness.

Android gaming gets smurfalicious, Smurfs' Village launches Sept. 28

The Smurfs Village
Android owners, did you really think you could survive the blue wave for long? Capcom's Beeline Interactive announced that Smurfs' Village will launch on select Android devices for free on Sept. 28. Originally released for the iPhone and iPad in late 2010, the mobile social game skyrocketed in popularity and even resulted in one hilarious lesson in child rearing in 2011.

The game plays out much like mobile Zynga games like CityVille Hometown in that players are tasked (by Papa Smurf) to build up their very own--you guessed it--village. But this time, it's for the Smurfs to dwell in as the evil Gargamel seeks them out. During your time expanding the Smurfs' miniature empire, you'll gain access to some of the more popular Smurfs and their special abilities.

Namely, many of these blue buggers will unlock mini games for you to enjoy and find additional resources with like Greedy Smurf's Baking Game or Papa Smurf's Potion Mixing Game. Of course, players can also share their experiences with their friends on Facebook through Facebook Connect. According to Capcom, Smurfs' Village consistently ranks as a top grossing app worldwide. (We think we have an idea of how that happened back in the day.)

Most recently, Capcom and Beeline released Smurfs' Grabber to iPhone and iPad, which will soon integrate directly with Smurfs' Village. (Not to mention that Ubisoft released a full-blown Smurfs game for Facebook.) We imagine that, with the heaping gold mine that the Smurfs property has proven to be for Capcom, it won't be long before you're grabbing for goodies in Smurfs' Village with Smurfs' Grabber on Android devices, too. Until then, just focus on building your blue buddies some comfy mushroom houses.

Zynga publishes Mafia Wars 2 comic, sets the stage for Las Vegas intrigue

Mafia Wars 2 has remained a mystery since the word leaked in January. The only follow-up the public has gotten from Zynga is last week's 'badass' trailer. But the game's official fan page announced a Mafia Wars 2 digital comic last night, titled with the game's much bandied about tagline, "Being Bad Never Felt So Good". The comic presents the glamorous yet dangerous world of the game, which is set in Las Vegas, and drops just enough exposition for the reader to meet the cast -- including whose shoes players will be stepping into once the game launches.

This eight-page comic was created by UDON Entertainment, a Canadian comics studio that specializes in Asian-inspired art, lending the story a manga flair in the character designs and paneling layout. UDON (named after the Japanese noodle) isn't a new entrant in games comics either. They're best known for their work with major Japanese games maker Capcom, drawing and publishing comics and artbooks for the Street Fighter series.
Mafia Wars 2 characters
So far, Zynga seems intent on keeping quiet about Mafia Wars 2's gameplay (except for the fact that it'll be a "vast 3-D world"), but they've been very big on establishing the game's world and its characters, the latter of which actually have detailed backstories available on the official website. A focus on characters and narratives is a rare thing in Facebook games. The last time this was done, and to a much greater extent, was Qunify's CLASH: Rise of the Heroes, which is heavily based on superhero comics. One of Zynga's developers, Mike Humphrey, has said that "I'm really looking forward to finally seeing how Mafia Wars 2 is received; it's unlike most games on Facebook right now, and I think it pushes the envelope of what people can expect from games on the platform." Let's hope they keep pushing until the day of the launch.

To check out the comic yourself, click here and follow the directions to 'Like' the game's official Facebook fan page.

Cafe World Manny's Mobile Meal Catering Order: Everything you need to know

Last week, we gave you a look at the second portion of the Cafe World two-year anniversary event, which takes us to the Philippines to help Manny on a Journey. While that may have been an already complex series of goals (and even a building project), Manny's story becomes even more in-depth today, as the accompanying catering order has finally launched. This order asks you to cook up a storm for a Filipino feast, and comes with the usual free recipe for completing this order with a three star rating.

Unfortunately, this is another order that will likely be impossible for some chefs to complete, unless they've already completed Manny's goals enough times to unlock all of the new Filipino recipes launched in this particular event. To be specific, you'll need to serve Lechon 475 times, Sisig 45 times and Filipino Paella 140 times. I suppose you could get lucky and have some really, really helpful friends do the cooking in these tasks for you (while you showered them with thanks, of course), or you could even pay your way through the goals with Cafe Cash to unlock the dishes more quickly that way. Either way, you're looking at some lengthy gameplay before you can even be eligible for completing this catering order on your own.

While you're cooking (or waiting on your friends to cook), you can ask your friends for the two collectible items in this order: 12 Monster Skewers and 16 Banana Leaves. Both of these are earned by sending out individual requests to friends, so earning all 28 may take you a few days, depending on the number of neighbors you have available to ask for help.

If you can complete this entire order within the first three days, you'll earn the three-star rating, 12 Catering Points, 3,200 Cafe Points, 70,000 coins and the Cassava Cake recipe. In addition, since this order is technically part of the two-year anniversary event, finishing with the three star rating also gives you a bonus of 10,000 Travel Passes. If three days proves to be too short, but you can finish within five days, you'll receive two stars, 8 Catering Points, 2,300 Cafe Points and 50,000 coins. Finally, if you finish at any point after the first five days have passed, you'll receive just a single star, 4 Catering Points, 1,400 Cafe Points and 30,000 coins. Again, you must finish with the three star rating to unlock the new recipe and the extra Travel Passes, so feel free to "cancel" your order if you run out of time and start over for another try.

What do you think of this newest catering order? How many of these three required dishes have you already unlocked in your cafe? Let us know in the comments.

CityVille: Finish your Bridge, Dam and more with discounted materials

If you've been putting off building one of the larger structures in CityVille (like the Bridge or Dam, as examples), because you didn't want to gather the required building materials from friends, or simply didn't want to pay the high prices to purchase those materials with City Cash, the team at Zynga is hoping that buy putting these items on sale (well, some of these items anyway), it might be enough to persuade you to open your wallet.

To be specific, a sale is now being held for up to 40% off building materials in the game. The materials are unfortunately limited to a specific set of buildings: the Bridge, Sailboat Hotel, Dam, Mall, Mall 2, Pirate Ship Attraction and Go Kart Attraction, and the rest of the game's many, many buildings are left unaffected. To make matters worse - between the two of us - the sale really isn't that good.

For example, let's say you wanted to finish your Pirate Ship Attraction. This one's building materials still cost 3 City Cash each. Perhaps if that were three City Cash in total for all of a particular ingredient I needed (say, two Ship's Prows or five Overhead Bars), that might be an acceptable price, but in our particular example, we're still looking at six City Cash for the Ship Prows and 15 City Cash for the Overhead Bars. Wouldn't it still be smarter (if not more time consuming) to ask friends for these items instead?

I suppose if you're looking for an easier way of completing these specific buildings, then you'll want to take advantage of this apparently limited time opportunity. Just don't feel any unneeded pressure to purchase building materials; the free way is still available, and doesn't look to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Will you spend City Cash on any of these discounted building materials, or have you already completed the construction on all of these buildings? Let us know in the comments.

CityVille Governor's Run Family Goals: Everything you need to know

In your quest to become Governor in CityVille, you've had to help the farmers and the toy makers, but now it's time to look a little closer to home. Your third and final portion of Act I of this event will see you earning a family's vote in your campaign. Specifically, you're looking to impress the Stumpford family (remember them from the Family Vacation goals released back in August?). Why the Stumpfords wouldn't automatically be on your side after helping them before is anyone's guess, but here's how to earn their vote of confidence officially.

Family Matters

    * Ask friends for 10 Magazine Subscriptions
    * Collect from the Executive Driving Range 4 times
    * Collect from Community Pool 6 times

As you might have guessed, the Magazine Subscriptions are earned via a general news post you'll post to your wall asking all of your friends to help you at once. As for the Executive Driving Range, this is the game's newest attraction that you can find the guide to building right here. Finally, the Community Pool is a Community Building that can be purchased from the store for 150,000 coins. By finishing this first goal, you'll receive a prize of 85 coins.

School of Thought

    * Ask for 15 Tutors
    * Upgrade Middle School to Level 3
    * Harvest 70 Brussel Sprouts

The 15 Tutors, again, need to be earned via friends. As for the Middle School, you've been able to upgrade this particular Community Building since late August, but if you don't have it done already, you can check out our guide to doing just that. Finally, Brussel Sprouts are available to plant for 48 coins and are ready to harvest after eight hours. Finishing this second of three goals gives you 4,500 coins.

Exterior Decorator

    * Ask friends for 20 Street Sweepers
    * Remodel 6 Residences
    * Unwither 24 Neighbor Crops

If you have any friends that stopped playing the game and left some crops growing (which most of us probably do), you should have no problem finding 24 individual squares to unwither. Just click on them when visiting friends' towns and you'll finish that task fast. For the residence remodeling task, this can turn into an expensive one, depending on the houses you choose to upgrade and the particular upgrades themselves, but you can see how to start the process in our guide. Finishing this final goal will complete your work with the Stumpfords (although I'm sure they'll be back in another feature in the future), and you'll receive the Mega Nail Salon business as a reward. This is a massive building that requires 410 Goods but supplies 3,050 coins each time those Goods are used.

Again, after you finish helping the Stumpfords (so long as you've also finished with the farmers and toy makers), you'll have finished the first portion of the Governor's Run event, but there's still a lot more waiting down the line. As the event continues to expand, we'll make sure to give you all of the details you need, so keep checking back with us!

FarmVille: Sheep and Pig Mastery now available

If you've been stocking up on pigs and sheep in FarmVille with the knowledge (or even just hope) that the FarmVille team would launch pig and sheep mastery in the game, your wait is over. Now, if you're wondering how exactly this will work with the literally thousands of possibilities for different kinds of pigs and sheep to be bred in the game, let me calm your fears: this doesn't result in the addition of an equal number of mastery signs; rather, the system is pretty straightforward, once you get past the "rules."

Basically, there are two sets of both sheep and pigs that determine which kind of mastery sign you'll earn. In Sheep Breeding, for an example, if the animal is specifically labeled as a Ram or Ewe, it's considered a "Sheep Pen Ram" or "Sheep Pen Ewe," which makes sense. All Sheep Pen Rams and Sheep Pen Ewes are combined into those two categories and work cumulatively towards a pair of mastery signs. That is, if you have a a purple Ewe on one farm and a pink or yellow Ewe on another farm (or even those with patterns), when harvesting them, they'll all be treated equally, working towards the same mastery sign.

This entire process is replicated when it comes to pigs. If it's a Boar or Sow, it works towards cumulative breeding pig mastery signs. On the other hand, if the animal is a basic pig or basic sheep that can be purchased from the store and doesn't immediately relate to breeding (some examples being a Party Pig, Grape Sheep, Polka Dots Sheep and so on), these do have their own individual signs, giving you plenty of additional signs to work towards.

As you might have guessed, the amount of mastery points required for these cumulative breeding signs are fairly substantial. In the case of pigs, the Pig Pen Boar sign's first star comes at 467 harvests, while the Pig Pen Sow's first star is earned after 588 harvests. For sheep, the Ewe sign's first star is earned at 840 harvests, while the first Ram star is acquired at 560 harvests.

Keep in mind, while pig and sheep mastery is fairly exciting, we still haven't seen the launch of Calf and Foal mastery in the game. That too is "coming soon," and we'll make sure to let you know when it launches in full.

Will you breed more sheep and pigs just to earn these new mastery signs? Will you purchase additional sheep or pigs from the store? Sound off in the comments.

A Bit Lucky goes all in on hardcore Facebook games with Lucky Space

We know you're all thinking it, so we'll just come out and say it: Sci-fi is huge in Facebook games right now. (Like, crazy big.) The next developer to take a crack at the theme is A Bit Lucky with Lucky Space. The San Mateo, Calif.-based developer's second social game launches today, and it's light years away from Lucky Train.

In Lucky Space, players inherit a lifeless, barren alien planet purchased by Dr. X in his final days in search of the riches he was so sure are buried deep beneath its purple crust. You'll establish a thriving space colony with one mission: strip mine the planet for all its worth in rare gems and resources. Of course, it won't be long before you discover that Dr. X was onto more than just shiny rocks and black gold.

As you expand your colony and upgrade its buildings with unique components like the Force Field Dome and Ultra-Power Laser Extractor, you'll slowly uncover the remnants of an alien civilization. Through a series a quests and the help of your friends, you will dig out alien ruins while protecting your colony from a series of natural (to this world, maybe) disasters like meteor strikes. While the game is dubbed "hardcore," it doesn't look or sound as if combat is a focus in Lucky Space.

Gallery: Lucky Space on Facebook
"Lucky Space was inspired by our love of the sci-fi genre and the desire to innovate within the social gaming space," A Bit Lucky CCO Jordan Maynard said in a release. "We've been able to blend social gaming with hardcore PC gameplay mechanics to create a new and engaging experience."

Regardless of the game being deemed "hardcore" with a lack of combat, a tenant of most Facebook games given the silly adjective, Lucky Space sounds like it might have players depend on their friends more than in most social games. You will need friends not just to visit your colony for a few boosts, but to trade rare components and identify mysterious alien artifacts. One thing we know for sure is that the game looks like a vibrant, even jolly take on Facebook games skewed for the hardcore crowd. But don't just take our word for it, check out the trailer below and see for yourself.

Could the Angry Birds replace the proverbial demands of "Make Some Noise" at your next baseball game? Maybe not your next one, but soon you could be cheering to fling the irate winged beasts into their plump green enemies. Pocket Gamer reports that Uplause, a Finnish developer of crowd-based games, has rebuilt Angry Birds with its creator, Rovio, into a version controlled by noise.

The self-proclaimed "social game maker for big crowds" has created similar games for use in stadiums for ice hockey games, soccer matches and even music festivals. Over the past summer, Uplause worked with Rovio to create a version of Angry Birds that is controlled using noise as an input device. (Namely, cheering, clapping, stomping and perhaps even booing, we assume.)

"As in the original, there's about a four second period before firing," Uplause CEO Veli-Pekka Marin explained to Pocket Gamer. "For live events, we'd expect each gaming session to take a few minutes." But in that time, thousands of folks will play at the same time. If anything, it's terribly efficient.

While all we know about this seriously social version of Angry Birds is that noise generates power for the game's slingshot, Pocket Gamer guesses that aiming is done automatically. Rovio and Uplause will first test this massive version of Angry Birds at a Formula 1 race taking place in Singapore this weekend, and the company's CMO Peter Vesterbacka sounds excited for its imminent global expansion.

"Through social participation, our fans will get to interact with the Angry Birds in an entirely new way," Vesterbacka said to Pocket Gamer. "We think this new form of gaming will give fans a great opportunity to form a strong emotional connection with the characters." I think Vesterbacka is confusing "emotional connection" with "drunken, crowd-fueled stupor." Check out the video below to get an idea of how it might work. Who knows you might be doing the same thing at the next World Series.
