Solitaire players on our site know that there are dozens of variations on the classic one-player card game. You may have played Klondike, Pyramid or Tripeaks, but we're pretty sure you've never played anything like Up Down Solitaire, a new game for the iPhone and iPod Touch ($0.99).
Up Down is part Free Cell, part Crescent (we've got our lingo down!) -- two decks of cards are shuffled together, then dealt into thirteen piles (each representing one of the thirteen ranks) and a draw pile. The object of the game is to complete each of the eight foundations (from Ace up to King for each suit on the right side, from King down to Ace on the left). If no cards can be played, you can draw a card, which will also let you play cards from the associated rank pile.
It's a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it Up Down is as addicting as any of the Solitaire variations you might have played before. The game also lets you upload your score to the game's official website, where you can compare your stats with your friends.
We spent a good chunk of last night hunched over our iPod Touch with this game instead of attacking Mafias or crop farming -- suffice to say that at 99 cents, it's a deal.

Downloadable Games for $2.99? Big Fish Games' Daily Deals Push Casual Games Pricing
Want to pay less for the games you play? Publishers may just start dropping game prices to compete for your attention.
Pricing for casual games over the years has largely stayed between $5.99 and $19.99, depending on the novelty of the game and the availability of the game on subscription/token-based sites such as GameHouse and Big Fish.
The latter of those sites, however, has been testing out a new Daily Deal promotion where a selected game is available at $2.99 for 24 hours. The deals are visible only to users who have installed the Big Fish Games Toolbar (which displays a search bar and navigation to their new releases, top games, etc), although that hasn't stopped blog A Game For Everyone from posting each day's coupon for non-toolbar users.
New Daily Deals have been posted every day since late July of this year, including on Saturday and Sunday. Originally the promotion was scheduled to run through the end of August, but as that date has come and gone, it's possible we'll see these offers discontinued any day now.
That said, we wonder if Big Fish is taking a cue from the popularity of cheap games on the iPhone/iPod Touch, the bulk of which are available for free or $0.99. Will we start to see other casual game vendors try out cheaper pricing models to compete with price expectations being set by Apple's device?
As games on other platforms like the iPhone get cheaper, do you expect to pay less for similar-featured games on your computer?

Now you can ruin a Sim's life for free: The Sims FreePlay available now
Don't act like you've never driven a Sim to the brink of filth and homelessness, only to manipulate it into burning its own house down. It's what god games are all about: raw, uncompromising power. Nickelodeon fires Monkey Quest at iPhone, iPad with Thunderbow
Monkey Quest, the browser-based goofy action MMO (massively multiplayer online game) by Nickelodeon, seized the infinitesimal attention spans of 4 million kids last month. The entertainment company decided to capitalized on the side-scroller's success with an equally explosive iPhone and iPad game, Monkey Quest: Thunderbow. The best part? It's 100 percent free.
Thunderbow sets players' fingers behind the bow of--who else?--Thunderbow, as he shoots his way through three jungle worlds to stop an evil cat lord from taking over the jungle. (You know, standard Nickelodeon cartoon material.) Players must fire various types of arrows at enemies that block Thunderbow's path. The shooter is instantly reminiscent of Rovio hit Angry Birds, but with less puzzling play and more explosions.

BBCW launches CBeebies games app
Games based on popular CBeebies Games series Charlie & Lola, Teletubbies, 3rd & Bird and Numberjacks are available through a new app launched by BBC Worldwide.
CBeebies On The Go is available for free on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad to pre-school children in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and South Korea.
Developed by Tag Apps, it includes matching pairs picture games for the Teletubbies and Charlie & Lola, a Kerwhizz jigsaw game and a 3rd & Bird tap-the-fruit challenge. It also holds a number of short video clips from popular shows.
Director of CBeebies investment at BBCW, Henrietta Hurford-Jones, said the team had “worked hard to build a product that upholds the core values of learning through play”.
She added: “This new kids’ app is a first for the Channels business, so the learnings from this pilot phase will help shape any future plans to roll CBeebies Games On The Go out to new territories and different devices.”
More than 53m homes have access to the CBeebies channel worldwide.

Finally, those birds that everybody likes has arrived on PC. After iPhone, iPad, Android and other mobile versions, also iPhone cases and toys, Angry Birds has finally arrived on the PC thanks to the Intel App Up store. It’ll work fine and dandy on laptops and netbooks and will cost you only $4.99 to download. Nice price for this lovely game.
Angry Birds is a global phenomenon in mobile gaming and the top grossing iPhone app of 2010. So if you’re not a smart-phone wielding hipster, you no longer have an excuse not to be part of this franchise.
Overall it’s pretty much an identical game play experience to the iPhone app, with some minor differences. It’s snappy, gorgeous, and it sounds amazing. On the netbook version you use a mouse or trackpad instead of touch. There is an open hand icon when the mouse is in hover state, and a closed hand icon when you are clicking or dragging. This visible clue when pulling the slingshot is a nice aid. It allows you to fine tune shots more than just observing the angle of the slingshot band.
Angry Birds for PC
Larger screen means more visibility in the game. On many levels you can see the target that can’t be seen on the iPhone. The previous shot trail is more easily seen, allowing fine tuning of your next shot. Overall the animations and physics seem to have more fluidity.
In terms of features, options, menu etc it’s pretty close to the original. On the netbook the replay level icon has been added to the game space. So you don’t need to pause first then replay. If you start off with bad shot, just click the replay icon, then you can start over. Saving a click is nice. There is a Menu button in the Pause menu that gets you back to the Start screen. There are some things not in play on the netbook version. The leader board and achievements are not available in the main menu. The Golden Eggs are there.
Angry Birds strikes an interesting balance of repetitive, simple tasks and challenging game play working for the many scenarios. So, if you liked this game on your iPhone or Android phone, you’ll sure like it on your big PC screen. If you are new player, don’t hesitate and join the fun now.

As a side note because I didn’t want to do an entire post about the subject, have you all seen the Angry Birds bra? It’s available over on etsy you should go check it out. I personally don’t know anyone who would wear it but i’m sure there is someone out there who would. I don’t recommend buying this for you girlfriend or wife unless she really loves angry birds.

As a side note because I didn’t want to do an entire post about the subject, have you all seen the Angry Birds bra? It’s available over on etsy you should go check it out. I personally don’t know anyone who would wear it but i’m sure there is someone out there who would. I don’t recommend buying this for you girlfriend or wife unless she really loves angry birds.
